My 26+ years of Tarot and esoteric experience—including founding Messages in the Moonlight in 2003—are rooted in both deep study and lived exploration. Evylyn's Story: The Weaver of Threads, From Soldier to Mystic

My journey has never been a straight line. It's been more like a spiral—a continuous return to the same core calling: to guide, heal, and empower others on their path.

For over 26 years, I've been exploring spirituality, psychology, and personal growth, not just as a passion, but as a way to help others navigate their own journeys.

It began with a deep, restless curiosity about the unseen. In 2000, as a soul-searching teen living in Elkton, MD, I found myself drawn to Wicca and modern Witchcraft. My early Roman Catholic upbringing had already taught me the value of faith, trust in that which cannot be seen, and a love of spirituality. Wicca, however, was the first spiritual language that made sense to me, offering a framework for the intuition I'd always felt.

I didn't just want to learn; I needed to share. I built online communities and websites, pouring my newfound knowledge into creating spaces for others to learn alongside me. This was the birth of my first major public project, Messages in the Moonlight, which has grown and matured alongside me for over two decades.

As my path evolved, so did my description of it. While still heavily influenced by Wicca, my practice became deeply personal. I often call myself a “Wiccan-flavored Witch” to honor my roots while also embracing my unique, ever-growing journey.

Along the way, life had other lessons to teach me. Driven by a desire to serve and defend the ideals encoded in the U.S. Constitution, I enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic. This period was a profound lesson in discipline, resilience, and the sacred duty of holding space for people in their most vulnerable moments. It taught me about holistic well-being under the most extreme of pressures, both anticipated and entirely unexpected. Ultimately, my short time in the service led to a medical discharge while stationed in Fort Wainwright, AK, which forced me to redefine my purpose.

That redefinition led me both to calling Colorado home and to learning more about mental health. I earned a B.S. in Psychology (Honors, 2011), seeking to understand the science behind the human mind, behavior, and the emotional well-being I'd seen fractured in the field and at home. But the "red tape" and approaches of the mental health industry at the time didn't fit where I felt my gifts were most needed. During this period, I allowed myself to explore, my career bouncing between healthcare, government, metaphysical retail and events, and writing.

In 2014, I took on a new role that’s still my greatest honor: becoming a parent. Shortly after my child's birth, we relocated back to the east coast. After a few years of struggles as a single mother, I felt the familiar pull to guide others yet again. That was when I first began seriously considering a business offering Tarot and spiritual services. But there was still a life-long desire unmet: to teach.

After nearly six grueling years feeling out of place in Southwest Virginia, I made a pivotal choice for my well-being and my son's future: I returned home to Delaware in 2021. As I transitioned into the role of a public high school science teacher, I pursued an M.A. in Teaching (Honors, 2023), strengthening my skills in communication, mentorship, and breaking down complex topics for every kind of learner, neurotypical and neurodiverse alike. While I loved every minute of learning and growing with my students, I (again) felt that spiritual pull toward something more.

For a while, I thought I had to keep these parts of myself separate: the Soldier, the Scholar, the Teacher, the Mystic. I lived a life of semi-secret spiritual practice while building "respectable" careers across different industries. 

The homecoming to Delaware was a catalyst. It was here I found my spiritual home with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark (UUFN), actively participating in their Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) chapter, the Glade of the Sacred Wheel. This community of open-minded seekers solidified my commitment to:

• Inclusive sacred spaces

• Earth-centered ritual integrity

• Interfaith bridge-building 

Yet, a question that had followed me for years grew louder: "Why don't you do this professionally?" People who had seen my Tarot readings witnessed how I wove together logic and intuition, and they consistently encouraged me to share my gifts more widely. The truth was, I was afraid. Afraid of the stereotypes, the stigma, and of fully stepping into my power.

Finally, I realized my diverse path wasn't a list of odd jobs—it was the unique weaving of a tapestry. Each thread was essential:

• The Soldier knows how to create a safe container for healing and hold space under pressure.

• The Scholar understands the patterns of the human experience and the science of the mind.

• The Teacher excels at translating insight into actionable understanding.

• The Mystic connects to the intuition and spiritual health that weaves it all together.

In 2025, I stopped hiding my magic. I founded Evylyn Rose LLC as a synthesis of all that I am—a place where I could finally bring my whole self to my work. This business is my love letter to the Delaware community I call home, built on a simple idea: that spiritual guidance should be empowering, accessible, and free from the stereotypes that kept me in the shadows for so long.

It's the greatest honor of my life to now sit with you, as my full and authentic self, and help you find the same clarity and empowerment I had to fight so hard to claim.
